Director

Laura is a screenwriter, director and script supervisor living on Naarm Country. They write fiction that, whether comedy or drama, unwraps the small moments that go on to have enormous impacts on people’s lives. They have a strong focus on unconventional relationships, exploring what connections affect us outside of romantic partnerships.

These types of stories benefit, above all, from precision direction. As they build their directing career, Laura works closely with Australian film and television directors as a script supervisor, including on projects like the 2023 Neighbours reboot, North Shore (series), Riptide (series), and 6 Festivals (film).

This drama comedy was created for the Lights! Canberra! Action! Film Festival in 2021. Filmmakers are required to follow scavenger-hunt like rules to qualify, encouraging an impromptu, fast turn around style of production to prove how quickly people can come together to create something. It made the final selection of the festival that year and won Best Ensemble Performance.

What if someone found instant messaging easier to be vulnerable?

This production went through several typical university nightmares, and for years I also believed I'd lost any copy of it due to poor file management and a corrupt hard drive. But I dug up this version from it's post-audio stages - so it doesn't sound amazing. But it's here, in all it's youthful angsty glory!
